As Insurance Manager at Vandemoortele you take ownership of our global insurance programs and claims portfolio, while driving effective risk management across the organization. In this role, you will combine deep expertise in corporate insurance, claims handling, and risk analysis with strong negotiation and communication skills to secure the best outcomes for the business.
As a key point of contact, you will work closely with Finance, HSE, HR, Procurement, Legal, and other departments, while also engaging directly with brokers, insurers, and external counsel. Beyond day-to-day operations, you will play a strategic role by providing senior leadership with insights and recommendations, and by contributing directly to the Executive Committee (EXCO) and the Audit Committee on all matters related to insurance, risk, and claims.
Your key responsibilities and challenges are:
• Global Insurance Policy Management
- Design, negotiate, and manage comprehensive global insurance programs (Property Damage/Business Interruption, Liability, Credit, D&O, Cyber, Transport, CAR, Work Accidents, etc.).
- Collaborate with HSE on property risk prevention and loss control strategies for buildings and equipment.
- Lead the renewal process: compile and validate renewal files, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Negotiate premiums, coverage terms, and policy wordings with brokers and insurers to secure optimal conditions.
- Oversee premium allocation and provide invoicing input.
- Issue general and client-specific insurance certificates.
- Monitor local insurance policies across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring compliance and alignment with global programs.
• Claims & Incident Management
- Report, investigate, and manage claims from first notification through to settlement.
- Actively participate in crisis management teams when incidents escalate.
- Collect, verify, and document loss evidence to support claims and quantify damages.
- Coordinate and follow up on loss adjuster surveys and insurer evaluations.
- Negotiate settlements directly with insurers and counterparties.
- Oversee insurance-related litigation in partnership with legal counsel.
- Track and report on open claims, ensuring accurate financial records in collaboration with Finance.
- Support Procurement on insurance-related contractual disputes and claims.
• Risk Identification & Analysis
- Identify emerging risks and assess appropriate insurance transfer solutions.
- Conduct scenario studies and risk exposure analyses to strengthen resilience
• Contractual Risk Review
- Analyze liability and insurance provisions in commercial contracts (logistics, engineering, depots, tenders, etc.), advising on potential exposures and mitigation.
• Financial & Strategic Advisory
- Deliver insurance-related data, forecasts, and insights to Finance for budgeting and planning.
- Provide risk and insurance input into M&A activities, ensuring smooth integration of new entities into existing global programs or structuring new coverage.
- Prepare executive-level reports for EXCO and the Audit Committee.
• Cross-Functional & Internal Support
- Act as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders (Finance, Export, HR, Quality, HSE, etc.) on day-to-day insurance matters.
- Foster knowledge-sharing and awareness of insurance processes and risk management across the organization.

Are you the one we’re looking for?
• You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Law, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field.
• You bring 5–8 years of experience in corporate insurance management, brokerage, or underwriting.
• You have solid expertise in global insurance programs and claims handling.
• You’re skilled in risk assessment, policy negotiation, and insurance-related contract review.
• Experience with M&A processes and insurance integration is considered a strong plus.
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills with external partners (brokers, insurers, lawyers).
• Strong analytical mindset and problem-solving skills, especially in claims and risk quantification.
• High attention to detail, able to manage multiple complex insurance lines simultaneously.
• A true team player with a collaborative, cross-functional approach.
• Fluent in Dutch, French, and English (any additional language is an advantage).
