Your role
As Group Raw Materials Controller, your primary responsibility is to manage the financial aspects of raw materials procurement (value of 1,2 billion €). You will work closely with procurement teams and internal stakeholders to ensure good and transparent understanding of results and risks, thanks to pro-active and meaningful analysis. As a business partner you will help drive the various forecasting processes and tracking of performance. Your role is crucial in maintaining financial integrity while supporting operational needs related to raw materials management. The role reports to the Group Accounting & Controlling Director. You are also member of the Raw Material Committee, where the CEO, CFO and Managing Directors of the two business divisions sit, among other senior colleagues.


Your key responsibilities
Budgeting/ Forecasting

  • Collaborate with procurement teams and Divisional Controlling Managers to develop annual budgets and forecasts for raw materials impacts on P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow based on operational needs and market trends;
  • Monitor budget variances and provide insights to management on drivers, cost-saving opportunities and potential risks;

 

Improve understating of raw materials activities

  • Hedging coverage analysis of FX and underlying raw materials, what is forecasted, what is the real coverage and how does it compare to the Raw Materials Policy;
  • Ensure correct recognition of financial instruments according to IAS 39 / IFRS 9;
  • Track the evolution of raw material components, including raw material vs. conversion costs;
  • Assess financial risks associated with raw materials procurement, including currency fluctuations, supplier reliability, and market volatility;
  • Involved in sustainability activities and non-financial KPI reporting (depending on future sustainability organization in the company);
  • Participation to project Taste (pricing tool and new Raw Material quotation system)

 

Analysis of actual raw material results & closing activities

  • Monitor market pricing and reserves, aligning procurement strategies accordingly;
  • Track contractual market indexes and ensure transparency in index contracts;
  • Create dashboards to visualize and analyse full Purchase Price Variance results across purchase categories 
  • Analyse volume and supplier data to identify opportunities for cost optimization;
  • Manage payment terms and assess their impact on procurement activities;
  • Conduct GR/IR (goods received, invoice received) analysis, monitoring aging of transactions on a monthly basis;
  • Suggest risk mitigation strategies for single-source suppliers.
  • Discuss with Raw Materials Management on a monthly basis the operational results offering insight in the underlying drivers and identify areas for improvement

 

Costing

  • Define the costing to be applied in standard costing (to minimize IFRS related stock revaluations)
  • Closely collaborate with the Pricing team to make sure all cost change are correctly  and timely transferred into the market

Are you the one we’re looking for? 

  • You hold a master’s degree in economics or finance and you have about 5 years of relevant experience;
  • You are highly analytical with a flair for numbers and you have a good knowledge and understanding of financial topics;
  • You have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal, in English; 
  • You excel in stakeholder management. Within the role, you will be in close contact with a lot of internal stakeholders (procurement, finance, legal, compliance, …) and are able to constructively challenge them; 
  • You are able to understand and explain the total picture of all projects and processes;
  • You are eager to learn and to further grow within the organization (possibility for rotation programme within the finance team). You will be part of a young and dynamic controlling team;
  • You are highly flexible, proactive, stress resistant and result oriented
  • You have excellent knowledge of MS Office. Knowledge of SAP, SAP BW and Power BI is an advantage.
